Laura's Story: A Confident Smile After Cleft Lip Surgery (Labioplasty)

Every child deserves a bright future and the chance to grow up with confidence. This is the core mission that Yayasan Senyum Bali continually strives for. Today, we are sharing a heartwarming story of joy from a resilient little girl, Helena Laura Yemima Ratu.
Born in Nagekeo in March 2024, Laura brought immense joy to her family. However, her mother, Ibu Monica Ratu, carried a deep hope that her daughter could soon receive the medical care she needed for her cleft lip.
Overcoming Obstacles with Speed and Family Warmth
The journey to the operating room was not easy. Ibu Monica faced financial constraints and was initially unaware of any foundations dedicated to helping children with cleft lips. The family also encountered administrative hurdles with their health insurance.
Fortunately, their path led them to Yayasan Senyum Bali. Without delay, our team stepped in to provide medical assistance. Ibu Monica was incredibly grateful for the rapid response and the welcoming, non-discriminatory care they received.
"The service was excellent and fast. Everyone treated us like family, without looking at our race or background," Ibu Monica shared with immense gratitude.
A Successful Surgery at RSU Dharma Yadnya

That highly anticipated day finally arrived. On September 9, 2026, Laura successfully underwent Labioplasty (cleft lip) surgery at RSU Dharma Yadnya. The procedure went exceptionally well, thanks to the expert hands of plastic surgeon dr. Dewa Ayu Agung Anggita Ningrat, Sp.BP-RE.
Seeing this success, Ibu Monica felt a profound mix of happiness, relief, and emotion. She never expected the process to go so smoothly. Ibu Monica expressed her deepest appreciation to dr. Anggita and the entire nursing staff at RSU Dharma Yadnya for their outstanding and compassionate medical care.
Hope for a Cheerful Future

Today, Laura’s smile blooms beautifully. Her mother holds a deeply touching hope for her daughter's future:
"My hope is that Laura can grow up like other children without feeling insecure, and most importantly, be happy and have a bright future."
Helena Laura’s story is a beautiful reminder of the profound impact of collective care. Yayasan Senyum Bali remains committed to being a bridge of kindness for children waiting for their new smiles.
