Welcome to Yayasan Senyum's website. In Indonesian 'senyum' means smile and that's certainly what we want our patients to do!
Established
Yayasan Senyum was established on August 25, 2005, based on the notarial deed of Viddy Dandi Yanta, SH, No. 2 dated August 5, 2005, at the urging of cranio-facial doctors from Australia and Indonesia, who saw the need for an organization that could support them by assisting poor patients through funding and logistics support.
Mission Statement
The mission of Yayasan Senyum is to reduce the suffering currently associated with craniofacial abnormalities and to improve quality of life by facilitating the delivery of health care to people with craniofacial disabilities in Bali and other Indonesian islands in partnership with local and international health care professionals.
Operations
The majority of operations are carried out at RSUP Sanglah (Sanglah Hospital) or other hospitals in Bali.
Patients who present with serious conditions that need a higher level of treatment than is currently available locally are sent to the Australian Craniofacial Unit in Adelaide, for surgery by Professor David David.
Skills Development
Yayasan Senyum hopes that a major element of its work in the future will be local skills building through the Australian Cranio-Facial Unit in Adelaide which offers excellent skills training.
