Operations in Bali

Cleft lip and / palate patients assisted by Yayasan Senyum Bali have their operations in Bali, either at the public hospital RSUP Sanglah in Denpasar or at a private hospital.

Patients need help because they may not:

  • Know that operations are available
  • Know how to go about obtaining an operation
  • Have the money and transport to reach the hospital
  • Have anywhere to stay while they do this
  • The services provided by Yayasan Senyum Bali are designed to overcome these problems

Operations in Adelaide

In association with Professor David David of the Australian Craniofacial Unit , Yayasan Senyum Bali sends patients to Adelaide for operations which cannot be performed locally.

Twice a year Professor David comes to Denpasar to hold a clinic with team of plastic surgeons of RSUP Sanglah under DR. AA Asmarajaya. More serious craniofacial cases are assessed at this clinic and patients selected for operations in Adelaide.

The South Australian Govenrnment generously provides free operations for the patients going to Adelaide. Yayasan Senyum Bali liases with the Australian Cranio-Maxillo Facial Foundation and makes all arrangements for getting the patient and an escort to Adelaide.

To achive this, Yayasan Senyum Bali sources funding for:

Passport and Visas

Air Travel

Small amount of fund toward ACFU fee

Patient and escorts living allowance while in Adelaide

Operations In Other Islands

The Smile Foundation of Bali’s mission is to bring health care to people suffering from cranio-facial disabilities; this includes both cleft lip and palate. It is our mission also to be able to assist patients from all over Indonesia, particularly in Bali, NTB and Eastern Indonesia.

The Smile Foundation is proud to be in partnership with Badan Koordinasi Kegiatan Kesejahteraan Sosial / BK3S (Coordinating Council for Social Welfare Activity) of Kupang East Nusa Tenggara and the local Government Bodies. This partnership has resulted in finding a large number of cleft patients, followed by cleft operations projects in Flores and Timor Islands.
